Careers and education

Education and innovation are critical for the Australian dairy industry to continue to build the capability of its existing workforce and attract new skilled talent. Educating primary school students about the production and benefits of dairy foods is only the first of many steps to build interest in this dynamic industry.

In 2006, the dairy industry formed the National Centre for Dairy Education (NCDEA) in conjunction with Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE. The principal objective of the NCDEA is to deliver dairy farming and processing education and training programs across Australia through a network of providers, under the direction of local industry advisory committees. The delivery is structured to ensure resources and delivery are industry best practice and relevant to today’s needs of the industry.

NCDEA is now recognised as a leading initiative in modern industry education, setting new levels of excellence in education and training in dairy farming, manufacturing and processing with the aim to develop the best dairy people in the world. Visit the NCDEA website for more information.
